Artec Spider II questions
Does Artec Studio cost extra?
Yes. Every Spider II needs Artec Studio to capture and process its scans. It is licensed separately. The kit builder on this page adds it at its own price. We set it up for you when the scanner arrives.
How is it different from the Space Spider?
The Spider II has twice the resolution of the Space Spider, scans four times as fast and runs smarter algorithms. Its field of view is larger too, at up to 171 × 152 mm.
What size of object can it scan?
Artec recommend it for anything from a coin up to larger parts such as an engine, machinery or medical equipment. For objects much bigger than that, the Eva or Leo is faster. For tiny parts that need micron accuracy, choose the Micro II.
What computer do I need?
A Windows 10 or 11 computer with a Thunderbolt 4 port. Artec set the minimum at a 12th generation Intel Core i9 with an NVIDIA RTX 4060 8 GB. They recommend a 13th or 14th generation Core i7 or i9 with an RTX 4070 8 GB. We can check your machine before you buy.
Can I use it alongside other Artec scanners?
Yes. All Artec scanners are designed to work together. Data from the Spider II merges with scans from the Leo, Eva, Ray II or Micro II in Artec Studio.
Can I try one before buying?
Yes. We run demonstrations on your own parts at our site in Cheshire or at yours. We also hire an Artec Spider out by the day or week, so you can prove it on a real job first.
What support do I get in the UK?
Europac 3D is an Artec Gold Certified Specialist and Ambassador, based in Cheshire. We deliver, set up the scanner and train your team. Technical help is by phone or email, with warranty claims handled through us rather than overseas.
