Heritage and museum 3D scanning
Objects, collections and places preserved at a moment in time. We scan heritage pieces in full colour for conservation, research, online collections and replicas, on site, without moving anything that should not move.
- Nothing touches the object
- Non-contact
- Museums, homes and sites
- On site
- Archive-quality texture
- Full colour

Recorded where it stands
Heritage objects are fragile, valuable and often should not travel. Our scanners do, so the work happens in the gallery, the store, the site or the family home. We scanned Hedd Wyn’s Black Chair at the family’s home for Snowdonia National Park, as well as the 1,000-year-old London Stone in the City.
With the Royal College of Art we scanned pieces at Sir John Soane’s Museum. The models serve conservation records, research, online collections and replicas or handling copies that let visitors touch what they otherwise could not.

FAQ
If yours is not here, ring 0330 229 0175 and ask for the scanning team.
Not answered here?
Ask the engineers who run the machines. We answer the same working day.
Does scanning use anything that could damage the object?
No. The scanners project light and nothing touches the object. We plan lighting and handling with the curator before we start.
Can visitors see the result online?
Yes. We prepare light textured versions for collection websites and 3D viewers, alongside the archive master.
Tell us what needs scanning
A photo, a rough size and what you need out of it. We will come back with a fixed price and a date, and if scanning is not the right answer, we will say so.
