35 million points a second

35 million points a second

HD mode captures 35 million points per second and the large field of view makes it easy to capture large objects such as machinery, vehicles or even whole rooms.

Knows which way is up

Knows which way is up

A built-in 9 DoF inertial system, accelerometer, gyro and compass, helps the Leo understand its orientation, so it can tell floors from walls.

Colour and geometry through the same lens

Colour and geometry through the same lens

The 3D camera and the colour camera share one optical path, so the Leo captures colour on board. The texture lands exactly on the geometry it belongs to.

HD mode: twice the resolution, less noise

HD mode uses Artec's AI reconstruction to double the resolution of the raw data to 0.2 mm, improving the detail captured around fine edges and complex surfaces while reducing noise in the finished scan. HD mode is part of Artec Studio. It works the same way with the Leo as with the Eva. Drag the slider to compare SD with HD, or open the scan full screen to zoom in.

Artec Leo questions

Do I need a computer to scan with the Leo?

Not to scan. The Leo has its own processor, battery and screen, so you scan with nothing else. You need a computer to process the data in Artec Studio: Artec recommend an Intel Core i7 or i9, 64 GB of RAM or more and an NVIDIA GPU with 8 GB of video memory, on Windows 10 or 11.

Does Artec Studio cost extra?

Yes. Artec Studio is licensed separately from the scanner. The Leo scans on its own. Artec Studio processes the data. The kit builder on this page adds it at its own price. We set it up for you when the scanner arrives.

What is HD mode?

HD mode uses Artec's AI reconstruction to produce data at twice the resolution of standard mode, up to 0.2 mm, with the noise removed. It captures thin or small features, hard-to-reach areas and dark or shiny surfaces far better. It needs a CUDA graphics card with at least 4 GB of video memory to process.

What size of object can the Leo scan?

It is at its best on medium to large subjects: gearboxes, castings, car parts, furniture, statues and people. There is no fixed size limit, so with a powerful computer for processing it also captures cars, boats, rooms and whole scenes. For small, highly detailed parts, the Spider II or Point II is the better choice.

How is the Leo different from the Eva?

Both deliver 3D accuracy of up to 0.1 mm and capture colour. The Eva is cabled to a laptop, while the Leo is completely wireless, sees further, has a larger field of view and captures up to 35 million points a second in HD. The Eva is lighter and costs much less.

Can I try one before buying?

Yes. We run demonstrations on your own parts at our site in Cheshire or at yours. We also hire Leos out by the day or week, so you can prove it on a real job first.

What support do I get in the UK?

Europac 3D is an Artec Gold Certified Specialist and Ambassador, based in Cheshire. We deliver, set up the scanner and train your team. Technical help is by phone or email, with warranty claims handled through us rather than overseas.
