Why Eva is Artec's most popular scanner
Tracks shape and colour
Eva reads both the geometry and the colour of the object, so it can scan large, featureless surfaces using colour to keep its place.
Fast on big objects
A 536 × 371 mm capture window at 16 frames a second digitises large objects quickly, stitched frame by frame on screen as you go.
Full colour texture
Colour capture adds a new dimension for CGI, museums, heritage and fashion work.
Black and shiny surfaces
Structured light is safe to use. It copes with dark and reflective surfaces as well as matt ones.
HD mode: twice the resolution, less noise
Artec's AI-driven HD mode produces data at twice the resolution of standard mode, up to 0.2 mm. It captures thin features, hard-to-reach areas or black and shiny surfaces far better. Artec Eva questions
Does Artec Studio cost extra?
Yes. Every Eva needs Artec Studio to capture and process its scans. It is licensed separately. The kit builder on this page adds it at its own price. We set it up for you when the scanner arrives.
What computer do I need?
The Eva is cabled to a Windows laptop, desktop or tablet by USB. The computer does the processing. For HD mode Artec ask for at least an Intel Core i7 or i9, 32 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA graphics card with CUDA 6.0 or later. They recommend 64 GB of RAM with a card that has 8 GB of video memory. We can check your machine before you buy.
Is it safe for scanning people and animals?
Yes. The Eva uses white structured light with no laser, so it is safe for any living subject. For clean results the person needs to hold their pose for the whole scan. Animals are harder to keep still, so they are best scanned while asleep.
What is HD mode?
HD mode uses Artec's AI algorithms to build sharper, cleaner models at twice the resolution of standard mode, up to 0.2 mm. It captures much smaller or thinner features, hard-to-reach areas and black or shiny surfaces that were difficult before. It needs Artec Studio 15.1 or later.
What size of object is the Eva best for?
Anything from about 10 cm upwards. It is at its best from 20 cm to 2 m: busts, wheels, exhausts, seats and whole people. For small, finely detailed parts the Spider II or Micro II is the better choice. For cars, rooms and scenes without a cable, the Leo is.
Can I try one before buying?
Yes. We run demonstrations on your own parts at our site in Cheshire or at yours. We also hire Evas out by the day or week, so you can prove it on a real job first.
What support do I get in the UK?
Europac 3D is an Artec Gold Certified Specialist and Ambassador, based in Cheshire. We deliver, set up the scanner and train your team. Technical help is by phone or email, with warranty claims handled through us rather than overseas.
