Scan processing, mesh editing and surfacing
- Introduction to Geomagic Wrap and the user interface
- Importing point cloud and mesh data
- Aligning scan data and working with coordinate systems
- Point cloud processing and clean-up
- Creating polygon meshes from scan data
- Mesh repair and optimisation
- Filling holes and creating watertight meshes
- Smoothing, reducing and editing polygon data
- Preparing meshes for 3D printing and downstream applications
- Introduction to NURBS surfacing
- Auto Surfacing and Exact Surfacing workflows
- Exporting mesh and surface data to common CAD and 3D formats
- Practical scan-to-mesh/surface exercise
What you leave able to do
Attendees should leave able to take typical 3D scan data through the complete scan data → clean-up → mesh repair → optimisation → surfacing → export workflow, producing high-quality mesh or surface data suitable for 3D printing, manufacturing, archiving or further CAD work.
How it works
Two places to run it
At our Whitchurch facility, where the machines, software and sample parts are already set up — or at your site, on your own hardware, parts and network. The price differs; the course does not.
Three people included
The price covers up to three attendees. Bigger groups are fine — tell us the number and we will price it.
Bring your own parts
The exercises work on our sample data, but they work far better on yours. Send a part or a dataset ahead of the day and we will build the practical around it.
